1. Annual Cleaning

One of the main reasons air conditioners often break is simply due to being worn out. To an extent this is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean you can’t reduce the problem.

It’s hard to underestimate just how much difference an annual cleaning can make to your air conditioner’s lifespan. After all, if your air conditioner is having to work through a bunch of dust and build up, that puts a lot more pressure on the fan than needs be. By cleaning the unit out, you can relieve that pressure making your air con more effective and more efficient.

2. Don’t Overwork It

Another way to reduce the need for air con servicing and maintenance is simply not to use it – at least, not to use it when you don’t need to. Of course there’s no point in having air con if you don’t use it at all, but remembering to turn it off at night or when you leave the house will save you more than just electricity.

On that note, you might consider investing in smart air conditioning, allowing you to control the system from your phone so even if you forget to turn it off before leaving the house, it’s not a problem.

3. Servicing and maintenance

All that being said, if you really want to look after your machine, then what you need is regular air conditioning servicing and maintenance from experts. While it might seem like an extra expense, annual maintenance can be a lot cheaper than simply replacing your air conditioning once every few years.

Furthermore, it’s far better for the environment, massively decreasing your amount of waste. Many people assume that their air con is broken for good when, in fact, a good cleaning would set everything right.
